With this super list of at-home date ideas, there’s no reason why you can’t lock in a date with you and your husband this very weekend!
Although when we think about dates, we often think about expensive nights out, dressing up and so on, the reality is, that presents a lot of barriers.
We have to book the reservation, get the outfit, maybe hire a babysitter. Add the cost of it all together, and your traditional “date” can sometimes simply be too much of an effort.
Like all things, the chances of doing it are much more likely the more convenient it is.
That’s why at-home dates are awesome!
Below you’ll find some featured at-home dates from some of our top marriage bloggers, so you can get your at-home date on!
AT-HOME DATE IDEAS FOR YOU
Alli from Dancing through the Rain has seven romantic ideas for people on a budget, all of which can be done within the comfort of your own home (or close enough- with a walk being one).
My top pick is to play games. As she says, “Break out the board games, the cards, or a jigsaw puzzle and get down to business. Games can be a super fun way to put your competitive spirit in play and challenge your opponent. Have fun with it! Don’t take it too seriously and so something that you never make time for.”
My one piece of advice is to skip Monopoly though. You want to have a date, not get a divorce!
Brittany from Equipping Godly Women has 16 at home date night ideas you’ll love, with one that is sure to appeal to the shopaholic in all of us.
She suggests, “Do you have a birthday coming up? Do you just love shopping? Shop from home right from your computer. Get another item crossed off your to-do list, have fun pretend shopping for items you could never afford, or have a contest to see who can find the most ridiculous and ugly items possible!”
Katelyn at What’s up Fagans shares 72 unique at home date ideas she’s found.
I loved the idea of a virtual vacation, which is another online activity. Katelyn says, “My husband have often talked about places we’d like to visit together someday, and this at home date night idea takes the talking and turns it into doing. And since it’s virtual, you can forgo the cost restrictions, childcare needs, and time restraints. I loved all the ideas of different things to plan and how to make it into a little competition.”
So jump on the computer and plan the dream holiday of a life time – no restrictions, no boundaries, just your imagination!
Kitty, from Vintage Kitty, has a super creative blind date idea with two awesome ideas for at home activities that are done while… blindfolded!
The taste test gets my vote for sure. Here, the evening starts with a friendly food competition. It’s easy to know what you’re eating when you’re looking at it, but can you tell a strawberry from a raspberry while blindfolded?
See how you stack up next to your partner with a blind taste test. Kitty has a comprehensive list of food and drink to use and some super cute printable score cards. Maybe you can go back to the bucket list and winner gets to tick off another item!
Kitty has another great idea with the picnic under the stars date which takes cuteness to the next level, with star shaped food and a DIY stargazing board.
It’s perfect for when it’s cold or rainy and you can’t go outside for a picnic, but it’s also great for all those parents out there looking to enjoy an evening together while the kids are sleeping.
Right here on My Sweet Home Life, I have a fun list of 45 questions for married couples. Make your favorite treats, sit down on the couch, and have fun asking each other everything you ever wanted to know.
Or maybe rather than treats, add on to this date the suggestion from Kendall from Kendall Rayburn – where you find a complicated dessert recipe and try mastering it together. She has another 24 fun ideas so go check them out!
Ophira, from Easy Mommy Life, has 20 fun stay at home date night ideas for couples. I love anything that involves snuggling up, watching TV and creating a feeling of comfort, which makes having a slumber party a perfect pick. As she suggests, “Make your living room into a slumber party area. Bring in all types of snacks, drinks, movies to watch or best watch reruns of your favorite TV series together.”
Indulge the reader in you with this tip from the Art of Manliness- just one of their 18 ideas for an at-home date – create an at-home “bookstore.” As they say, “One of our favorite dates is to go to a bookstore, not only to browse their books, but to grab a few magazines and sit in the café to read them. You can re-create this bookstore experience at home by each buying a couple of magazines beforehand and then making your own lattes or hot chocolates. Sit in some comfy chairs around the house, sip on your drinks, read your mags, and share the interesting tidbits you come across with your significant other.”
Finally, Lisa from Graceful Abandon has 34 ways to go on a date and never leave the house. My favorite is to dress up for an elegant candlelight dinner for two at home. (Maybe get dinner delivered so you don’t need to cook!).
With this super list of at home date ideas, there’s no reason why you can’t lock in a date with you and your husband this very weekend.
