You’re tired after a week at work. You feel like wearing your comfy pants. You want to stay at home.

But what can you actually do? You’ve watched so much Netflix you’re not sure there’s a series left to binge.
Wonder no more. Date night games are where it’s at.
Games are a great date night activity at home because they require your focus and attention and – depending on the game – can bring out your competitive spirit, which is always fun in my opinion.
But knowing WHAT games to play on date night?
Well, wonder no more on that either, because I’ve done all the research for you.
Here are my top date night games to play at home.
These date night games are sometimes romantic, sometimes dirty, always fun.
While most of the ideas here are date night games for two, some are also fun games for couples to play with another couple or at a party.

Two player games to play on a date
If you’re after games to play on a date that are just as exciting with two people as they are with a crowd, these two player games for couples are for you.
Tenzi
Tenzi is a super simple, fast paced dice game. It involves each player being given ten dice.
You all start throwing the dice at the same time. The objective is to be the first person to have all 10 dice with the same number, so after you roll the dice the first time, if you have more than one dice showing the same number, say 5, pick that one.
Then you push them to the side and keep rolling until all 10 show the number five. At that point you shriek, Tenzi! and win the game.
Splendor
Splendor is a strategy game where you have to amass a certain number of points through the collection of gems and by buying and developing cards.
Splendor is a great choice of date night games as it’s only 30 minutes to play, which means you can either play multiple times OR move on to another option for your couple’s game night such as these date night movies.
Ticket to ride
Ticket to ride is a relatively easy strategy game where the aim is to connect routes with the chain of trains you have and get points. The person with the highest number of points wins.
It’s a great board game for couples but also works well with more players.
The advantage with only two people is that it takes less time to play – on average the game usually takes an hour to 90 minutes.
This version of the fast-paced, award-winning board game Ticket to Ride can be played with Alexa.
Blokus
Blokus is another strategy game, where the aim is to get as many of your 21 pieces on the board as you can.
What makes it challenging is that each piece you play must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners!
Date night games with a couple’s focus
If you’re looking for date night games at home, then why not select some which have a specific focus on you as a couple?
These three games give you just that.
The discovery game: for a married couple
The discovery game: for a married couple is a board game aimed at reminding you of things you love and appreciate about your husband and also of key memories you share. There’s a range of conversation starters also.
However mixed in with that are some spicy activities. For example, lying on the floor and having your partner kiss you anywhere on your body for two minutes. Think about that – anywhere!
Taking about an hour or two to play, this is a great date night game that can segue nicely into the bedroom.
Discovery promises fun both in and out of the bedroom. You'll relive fond memories, while making new ones. Both intimacy and connection will get a boost!

Talk, flirt, dare
Talk, flirt, dare has a similar concept.
The Talk section is PG enough to play with couple friends if you’re after fun games for a couples game night.
The TALK section tests your knowledge of each other.
The questions are generally lighthearted (“If you and your partner were to quit your jobs and move to anywhere in the world, where would your partner want to go?”) but if you’ve ever had any serious issues in your marriage, I would perhaps reconsider this as a purchase.
For example, one of the questions is “What do you think is the one thing your partner can never forgive you for?”
You could always have a quick skim first although that would ruin some of the spontaneity.
The FLIRT section has such questions and statements as “What’s your favorite memory from where you and your partner were dating,” and, “Describe how you would you like your partner to seduce you one day.”
The DARE section is for couples only. For example, do a strip tease slowly removing two items of your clothing.
There’s a lot of flexibility in the game, in that you could play only talk or flirt or dare, or work out some fun combination of the three.

Poker for couples
It’s poker – but not as you know it! Poker for couples in two different versions depending on if you want to play a quick and simple game, or something more complex and strategic. In Poker for Couples two players (of any gender) attempt to score points both by creating the best poker hand and by winning tricks. For each point scored, they move their pawn one step on the game board track and collect different sexy reward cards on the way.
Fun games for couples’ night
Even if you’re an introvert like me, there comes a time where you need to spend some time in the weekend with other people or run the risk of being known as a hermit.
I’m a big fan of having couple friends, where you and your husband get on with both husband and wife in the other relationship/s.
In addition these kind of relationships add to your marriage, because you’re building memories together.
Alternatively these are fun to play with your teenagers or adult kids!

They can be played with four people or more.
Articulate
Articulate is not only one of my favorite date night games – it’s one of my favorite games full stop.
You play in teams (which can be just you and your spouse).
As you move around the board, you land on categories. Then you pick up a pile of cards and one player tries to make the other guess the word/s for that category.
When the timer runs out, you move forward the number of spaces for each question you got right.
As an aside, my husband and I did so badly one of the first times we played this game that we actually had fun just practicing with the two of us giving clues and answering so we could be a force to be reckoned with next time around!
What makes this a great example of games to play on a date is that you can hook into memories of each other or secret words or anything that helps you guess it.
For example, say the category is World, and the word is Paris. You could say, “The place we went on our honeymoon.” (Yeah – I wish! I did not spend my honeymoon in Paris).
Cards against humanity
Cards against humanity is a card game that is pretty hilarious in its offensiveness, though at times cringe inducing.
It’s certainly not a game for anyone with a sense of political correctness – I advise you read the reviews before you purchase and / or search for Cards against humanity examples.
The idea of the game is pretty simple – the person who’s turn it is to lead the round reads a statement from the black cards. The others select from their white cards to make the most awful answer.
For example, “When all else fails, I can always masturbate to” – “Grandpa’s ashes.”
Cards Against Humanity is a party game for horrible people. It contains 500 white cards and 100 black cards for maximum replayability.
Codenames
Codenames can be played with two players but is much better with between four and six players.
After laying out a 5 by 5 grid of word cards, two players give their team clues to try guess which ones of the words on the grid are connected to their team without accidentally guessing words from the other team or the assassin card.
It’s a little more complex than that when you read the instructions, but actually pretty simple to explain and play – and lots of fun!
Telestrations after dark
Telestrations after dark is the grown-up version of the classic Telstrations.
With 4-8 players, this is perfect for a group date or game night.
The game requires you to draw what you see and then guess what you saw – but don’t worry – stick figures are encouraged!
